Measuring Achievement and Progress
The Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test, known as the FCAT, assesses student knowledge and comprehension of the Sunshine State Standards, which are created by teachers to clearly define what students should learn during the school year.
The FCAT measures whether a student is learning a year’s worth of knowledge in a year’s time. It identifies areas where a student is struggling, so teachers, parents and the student can work together to strengthen those skills. It also identifies students who are ready for more challenging coursework.
