Differentiated Accountability:
Strengthen and Streamline State and Federal Accountability:
- Implements the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Flexibility Waiver. This flexibility:
- Moves Florida towards a single system that clearly reports student progress, provides intensive support for struggling schools, and advances Florida’s nationally recognized, proven, high-quality, data-driven school accountability system.
- Aligns NCLB with our Race to the Top grant, Differentiated Accountability Program and the Student Success Act signed by Governor Scott.
- Enhances the State Board of Education’s authority as it relates to turnaround schools, allowing the DOE to intervene the first year a school earns an “F” grade.
